

GOOD NEWS!! SGA ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS GALA NOMINATIONS: All current students, faculty, and staffs are eligible to nominate worthy students for a wide variety of special awards.
The MUW Student Government Association (SGA) is hosting the First Annual Achievement Gala on April 22nd, 2013 in the collaboration with Student Life and YBLA. This ceremony will recognize the graduating seniors with a 3.75 [and over] GPA. We are also asking MUW faculty, staffs, and students to nominate deserving MUW students for different awards [mentioned below] which will be awarded in the ceremony. The award decisions will be made by a committee that consists of MUW faculty and staffs.

Community Service Awards:
Student who has most documented hours through the Office of Community Service will be recognized through this award.
MUW Service Awards:
This Award will recognize student who has dedicated their service and commitment to promote excellence in MUW campus through organizations, committees, and academic progress.
Horizon Award:
The Horizon Award is designed to recognize the early accomplishments of first-year students to MUW. Any freshman (first-year with no more than 2 completed semesters) is eligible for this award. The period of eligibility includes involvement from summer 2012 to present. The committee will recognize the student who has begun to develop their leadership skills and who have shown potential for great leadership at MUW.
Transition Award:
The Transition Leader Award will recognize the accomplishments of transfer students, who have exemplified dedication, leadership and are engaged and involved with their MUW community, while also maintaining strong academic excellence.
Legacy Awards:
The Legacy Award will recognize a graduating senior who excelled in leadership, service, and scholarship throughout their tenure at MUW, while also maintaining strong academic excellence. Any senior who will graduate in May 2013, August 2013, or December 2013 is eligible for this award.
Outstanding Leadership Award:
The Outstanding Overall Student Leader Award will honor an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in promoting campus spirit, pride, introduced a new tradition or innovative idea to promote campus life, and/or the University's prestige, and exemplify loyalty to MUW—a true "MUW student”, while also maintaining strong academic excellence.
Outstanding Minority Award:
This award celebrates the works/merits of minority student leaders on campus, who promotes diversity, unity, and acceptance by educating the student body about their minority groups, while also maintaining strong academic excellence.
By minority, we mean any population less that accounts for less than 50% of the student population.

The Student Government Association of Mississippi University for Women has been staying involved and engaged this year. This organization is the campus liaison between the faculty, staff, administration and the student body. If the students have concerns and want to see changes brought about, they get bring those concerns to SGA.
