20th Annual T.G.I.F. Conference
Friday, February 21, 2014
8:30am - 3:30pm (Registration begins at 8:00am)
We are excited to host keynote presenter, Dr. Jane Newman, Program Director and Associate Professor of Gifted Education at the University of Alabama. In addition to her work in higher education, Dr. Newman has past experience as a gifted teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent. She will be conducting a mini-workshop on the Talents Unlimited Model, a set of practical strategies for training students to implement critical and creative thinking skills across the curriculum. This model has a strong research base for use with students in both gifted and general education classroom settings.
Call for Presenters:
The Mississippi University for Women Gifted Studies program would like to invite you to submit a proposal for the annual Teachers of the Gifted Instructional Forum. You may submit a proposal for a “Bright Ideas” roundtable discussion or a one-hour breakout session. We are currently seeking proposals that will help teachers gain knowledge and skills in current issues/trends in gifted education as well as advocacy, leadership, and activities that are engaging gifted students. The proposals should reflect current practices and relate to the conference theme: “Getting to the Core of InteGREATion: Connecting Common Core, Gifted Standards, & 21st Century Learning.”
If you are interested in presenting at TGIF, please complete p. 2 of the Registration/Proposal form and submit to Dr. April Coleman by January 31. All presenters will be notified of acceptance by February 4.
A complimentary conference registration and meal will be provided for one-hour session presenters, and a $20 discount will be given to Bright Ideas presenters.
