MUW Ensembles
A Great Place to Sing
All of MUW's singing opportunities are open to music majors as well as non majors. Participating in our ensembles means joining a group of committed music makers who support one another both as musicians and fellow school mates. The result of their unity and hard work can be heard on the concert stage. MUW Singers serve the University, alumni, and the community by their singing and are appreciated for their excellence. Concert tours are a vital part of the MUW singing experience as they travel to various destinations representing the University through their music. Admittance to the ensembles is by audition only. MUW Singers are eligible to receive scholarships and service awards. Please see the bottom of the page for more information.
Our Ensembles:
Chamber Choir performs a variety of choral literature and is comprised of singers with a wide range of academic pursuits. A common love for singing and their commitment to musical excellence makes this an exciting ensemble for singers and concert goers.
University Singers performs choral music from specific historical time periods. Renaissance compositions such as madrigals and motets are a primary focus. However, the ensemble also performs modern compositions by significant composers.
Chorale is a female group that enjoys an active concert schedule throughout the school year. Singers and audiences experience the beauty of a well- crafted sound that is found in the collective voices of the Chorale. They are frequently requested by community and civic groups due to the ensemble's rich tradition of fine performances.
Encore performs vocal jazz and other forms of popular music. Much of the literature is a cappella but the ensemble is occasionally supported by a live band comprised of professional and student players. The instrumental combo allows for a blended show of jazz, blues, and, other popular genres.
MUW Singers encompasses all the students who sing in any of our four ensembles. Concerts are performed that combine all the groups into one choir. MUW Singers also participate in combined concerts with other colleges, high schools, and community ensembles.
