Mississippi University for Women

OFFICE OF ACADEMIC ADVISING

Faculty Advising Corps

Summer 2012 Orientation Advisors

The Advising Corps consists of selected Mississippi University for Women faculty members who have demonstrated knowledge of university academic policies and procedures, a commitment to quality academic advising, and a desire to serve as positive ambassadors for MUW’s mission and her commitment to academic excellence. The members are nominated annually by the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs in consultation with Deans/Institute Directors. Final approval rests with the Provost.

Advising Corps members also may be called on to serve as a resource to both faculty members and students in the college who have questions about academic policies and procedures, university core curriculum requirements, and major requirements within the college/institute. Advising Corps members are encouraged to serve as mentors to new faculty members as they develop their advising skills. Advising Corps members may also serve as initial advisors for prospective students and newly declared students in the college/institute before formal advisor assignments are made.
