Research Interests: Constitutional law and medical ethics, nursing ethics, the health care professional-patient relationship, ethical and legal issues surrounding palliative care, and business ethics Selected Publications: Dr. Hilliard had co-edited or authored three books. His most recent book is The U.S. Supreme Court and Medical Ethics: From Contraception to Managed Health Care (Paragon House, 2004). He has also published a number of articles in peer reviewed journals in the fields of medical ethics, law and medical ethics, nursing, business ethics, and political science. His most recent article is "The Politics of Palliative Care and the Ethical Boundaries of Medicine: Gonzales v. Oregon as a Cautionary Tale" in the Journal of Law, Medicine & Ethics 35, 1, 2007, 158-174.
