Sunday at the Bluff

Rufus Ward, Jr., local historian, will discuss “Stories they don’t teach in Mississippi History” Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. at the Plymouth Bluff Center.

His talk will include a rambling collection of vignettes of little known facts, incidents and characters that shaped the history and culture of East Mississippi and West Alabama. Who knew that Davey Crockett got lost on his way to Tibbee Creek, or that Rommel’s Afrika Korps was in Aliceville, or that there really are old brick tunnels under Columbus? Plus many other stories out of the past.

The program is free and open to the public.
