Dr. Julia Mortyakova, chair of the Department of Music, presented a workshop at the College Music Society's 2012 National Conference in San Diego, California.
The College Music Society is a consortium of university professors and independent musicians working in all disciplines of music.
Dr. Mortyakova's workshop, "Advocacy in a Box: Lobby Training for Academia," drew on her experience lobbying Congress in Washington, D.C., to provide an approach to arts advocacy in both community and government relations.
"I was very honored to represent MUW at this important conference. It was wonderful to network and exchange ideas with my colleagues from all around the country," she said.
