A Message from our Director
Greetings from Mr. Phillip "Flapp" Cockrell,
The Office of Diversity Education and Programs provides a welcoming and supportive environment for minority students. This office serves as a link between culturally diverse students and the University community. The mission of Diversity Education and Programs is to provide support services for students, to assist in the achievement of life goals and increase academic, social, cultural, moral, and physical development.
In addition, the director is an advocate for the needs of the culturally diverse student population. Further, this office works with international students before and after their arrival on campus and provides site coordination for MUW's participation in the Increasing Minority Access to Graduate Education (IMAGE).
The office of Diversity Education and Programs is responsible for providing multicultural programs that reflect and support the mission of the University. It provides additional assistance and services to students, although primary attention is given to African-American and international students in matters related to university life.
